Lenses

Single Vision Lenses

Single vision lenses correct vision at only one distance, near or far away. They’re the most common type of lenses in prescription glasses and reading glasses.

Bifocal Lenses

Bifocal lenses offer two prescriptions in one pair of eyeglasses. The top half corrects distance vision, and the bottom half corrects near vision. The two sections are divided by a distinct visible line.

Varifocals

Varifocals are the best solution when more than one prescription is needed to correct your vision. As they combine two prescriptions in one lens, you do not have to carry two different pairs of glasses.

Transition Lenses

Transition lenses (photochromic or adaptive lenses) are light-intelligent lenses that protect eyes from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. Transition lenses stay transparent indoors and darken within a minute or less when exposed to UV rays.

Coloured Overlays

Coloured overlays are transparent sheets of coloured plastic that can be placed over a page or a book to colour the text without affecting its clarity. Some children and parents opt to have the colour tinted onto the child’s glasses.

The colour reduces the perceptual distortions of text that children sometimes describe. They enable some children to read more fluently, with less discomfort and fewer symptoms of visual stress.
